Bowden McCormack acted on behalf of the Jawoyn owned entities in negotiating tenure and joint venture agreements for the development of the Cicada Lodge Resort located in the Nitmiluk National Park – a luxury resort overlooking the Katherine River.
After lengthy negotiations, on 28 February 2012, a joint venture was formed between a fully owned Jawoyn entity and Indigenous Business Australia for the construction and operation of the Cicada Lodge Resort. On this same day, tenure agreements were signed between Jawoyn owned entities, Parks and Wildlife Commission and the Conservation Land Corporation.
This agreement created one of the most complex legal and commercial challenges in recent times in the Northern Territory as the transaction impacted upon a National Park, Land Trust Land and related easements. Bowden McCormack is honoured and proud to be involved and to have lead the negotiations for our clients, Nitmiluk Tours and the Jawoyn Association.
A proud moment for the Jawoyn people and all those involved.
